After the One UI 8.5 software, Samsung is gearing up for the next One UI 9 update for Galaxy smartphones, including the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. An early build spotted on Samsung’s test server has revealed that the next One UI 9 software is in testing. It is expected to launch with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 later this year, alongside the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S25 series.
Device: Galaxy S25 / S25+ / S25 Ultra
Update: One UI 9 (Android 17)
Current Status: Testing
Beta: Expected May 2026
Stable Release: Expected Late 2026

In the first week of March, the first major build for the Galaxy S26 Ultra was discovered, so we are close to seeing it for the Galaxy S25 series as well. There is no doubt it will get the next major version, and it will also participate in the One UI 9 beta program later this year. Early rumors and leaked firmware suggest that many features and key changes will be added to the next software.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra One UI 9 update is expected to introduce a redesigned notification panel and media player. Early images leaked by sources hint at a glass-like visual animation for the media player, and a new audio visualizer that changes its shape in real time with music.
Samsung has not only changed the name of its browser, but it will also add some essential features. According to sources, Samsung will bring multi-window support to the Samsung Browser, which will enhance the browsing experience on the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
For multi-window support on the Galaxy S25, a new window will open on top of another, unlike Galaxy Tabs, where apps open side by side.
Like every major One UI software update, Samsung will bring a couple of new Galaxy AI features along with improvements to the existing ones. It reportedly offers upgraded Photo Assist, Now Nudge, and more.
It is still in the early stage of firmware testing, so in the next few weeks, we could gather more useful information.
The Galaxy S25 series One UI 9 beta, based on Android 17, is expected to start in May, with the launch likely tied to the next Galaxy Unpacked event. It will first open for the Galaxy S26 series, and later come to the Galaxy S25 lineup.
At the next Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung might announce a stable One UI 9 version for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 smartphones. Later, Samsung is expected to announce the One UI 9 rollout schedule for other Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra.
