Samsung has officially kicked off the One UI 8.5 beta program for the Galaxy S23 series, offering an early look at the upcoming software ahead of its stable release. Yesterday, it released the April 2026 security update for the devices, and now it is getting a beta version. The beta is currently rolling out S911BXXU9ZZD5 beta firmware in South Korea & India and is available for the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra through the Samsung Members app. At the moment, the Galaxy S23 FE is not part of this beta program, unlike Galaxy S24 FE & S25 FE.

How to Install Galaxy S23 One UI 8.5 Beta

Users who want to try the new update can head to the Samsung Members app, navigate to the beta section, and register through the One UI 8.5 banner. Once enrolled, the update can be downloaded via the software update menu. Since the beta package is approximately 4.1GB, it is recommended to use a stable Wi-Fi connection for installation.

With One UI 8.5, Samsung is introducing a mix of system-level improvements and user interface refinements. One of the key highlights is the customizable quick panel, allowing users to better tailor controls and layout based on their preferences. The update also brings refreshed app visuals, giving the interface a more modern and polished look. In addition, Samsung has focused on improving overall system smoothness, which should translate into a more fluid and responsive experience across the device.

Alongside the new features, the beta firmware includes the April 2026 security patch. This ensures that devices running the test build are up to date with the latest security enhancements. Notably, this same security patch has already been rolled out to Galaxy S23 devices running stable One UI 8.0 in South Korea, making the beta both a feature and security upgrade.

If everything goes according to Samsung’s usual schedule, the stable version of One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy S23 series could arrive as early as May. However, the exact timeline will depend on how smoothly the beta testing phase progresses. As per the report, Samsung could release a stable version for the Galaxy S25 series on April 30, so we can expect a May date for the Galaxy S23 series.
