Samsung’s upcoming One UI 9 update is bringing major upgrades to notifications and file sharing, with new features spotted in the latest APK teardown. According to the report, Samsung will add new Notification Rules and a Tap to Share feature in the new version. It will introduce more features in these areas to improve the user experience on Galaxy devices. Thanks to Android Authority, which discovered new information in an APK teardown.
New Tap to Share Feature
In the leaked APK files, the tipster found a new feature called Tap to Share, where users can share files to other supported devices with a single tap. To share a file, users need to hold the top of the phone close to the other device, and the file will be sent. The Tap to Share feature appears similar to Apple’s AirDrop but uses Samsung’s own implementation.

Many users may be new to the Tap to Share function, but older users may relate it to Samsung’s S Beam feature. S Beam on Galaxy devices worked on the same concept, but later, for unknown reasons, Samsung discontinued it. Now, with a new name, users may get the Tap to Share function again.
New Notification Rules in One UI 9
Samsung already offers rich notifications on its Galaxy devices. Compared to Apple devices, Android 17 Beta 3 has been spotted with new Notification Rules. In One UI 8 or One UI 8.5 settings, users can set custom modes, categories, and groups to handle different notifications. With Notification Rules in Android 17, users will be able to set more advanced custom rules.
According to Android Authority, users will be able to manage all their notifications with different rules. Here are some rules that may be included in the new beta version and could come to One UI 9:
- Silence
- Block
- Silence & Bundle
- Highlight
- Highlight & Alert
When a user creates a new rule, the system will apply that rule to a particular app or contact. For example, if a user does not want to get notifications from a specific group or contact, they can mute it while still receiving other WhatsApp messages. Additionally, if a user wants to receive messages from a specific contact they consider important, the system will highlight those messages.
When One UI 9 Will Be Released

Based on previous timelines, Samsung could start the One UI 9 beta program for Galaxy devices in May 2026, with the final release expected at the next Galaxy Unpacked event.
