Galaxy Watch 8 ECG & BP Not Available? Here’s Why and How to Fix It

Galaxy Watch 8 ECG Missing

The Galaxy Watch 8 series launched with ECG and BP functions, but they are still not available for every user. These features are not supported in every country, which confuses users about their support and compatibility. The question is why these health features are not available in all countries and why they do not support non-Samsung phones.

ECG & BP Functions on Galaxy Watch 8

With the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic, Samsung has packed a number of essential features. The launch of Wear OS 6 or One UI 8 Watch is one of the main factors behind its strong selling point, but there are a few others as well.

The ECG (Electrocardiogram) and BP (Blood Pressure) features are also among the key features that every user wants on their smartwatch. Both features were introduced with the Galaxy Watch Active 2 but were later activated after the launch of the Galaxy Watch 3. Since then, they have been part of the current generation Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic.

Why ECG & BP Are Not Available on Galaxy Watch 8

Now, the question is, when Samsung announced these functions for the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic, why are they missing on your smartwatch? It is a valid question, and you may have purchased these watches specifically for the ECG and BP functions.

Rules & Regulations in Each Country

It is not entirely Samsung’s fault, as it has successfully developed these features. The main reason they are missing is because of government regulations. To offer these services, Samsung needs to go through specific authorities to obtain clearance or certification.

It is also partly Samsung’s responsibility, as it has not completed the necessary documentation and testing to launch these health features in many countries. Additionally, some countries do not allow them because these measurements are very sensitive, and even a small error could cause panic among users.

There is a possibility that some users might take incorrect medication or undergo unnecessary treatment based on inaccurate results. This is the main reason some countries have yet to approve the Health Monitor app. Even Apple, Google, and Garmin are still in the process of entering many markets.

ECG & BP Supported Countries

Here is the list of countries where you can use the ECG and BP functions. You can find your country in the list, which was last updated at the beginning of this year.

Argentina, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Réunion, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, UK, Ukraine, India, the US, and several other countries.

These features are available in more than 50 countries. However, there are still major countries where they are absent. Even popular markets like the US are still waiting for the blood pressure feature, while some other countries do not have access to either feature.

It may take some time, but Samsung plans to expand availability to more countries in the future.

Not Available on Non-Samsung Phones

Here, you can say it is Samsung’s decision to restrict other users from accessing these advanced health features. Like Apple, Samsung has made it clear that to use ECG and BP functions, users need Galaxy phones. If you are using other Android phones, then you cannot use several features, including these.

Also, after the Galaxy Watch 4, Samsung has stopped compatibility with Apple iPhones, so users cannot pair their Galaxy Watch with Apple devices. Before buying a new Galaxy Watch, you should visit the Samsung website or the Samsung Store to check whether these features are supported in your country and on your smartphone.

How to use ECG & BP Functions

To use ECG & BP functions, you should get a Samsung Galaxy phone like Galaxy S26 Ultra or any affordable phone like Galaxy A16. After that, you can go to Galaxy Store and install the Samsung Health Monitor app to activate these features.

For the unsupported country, if you have already bought Galaxy Watch 8 or Watch 8 Classic, Samsung needs to get the necessary permission from the authority to use it.

There are also unofficial methods to use ECG & BP functions in the unsupported countries and with non-Samsung phones. I don’t recommend going through the unofficial way because chances are high to brick or damaging your smartwatch.
