Samsung is reportedly preparing to introduce 5G connectivity on its next premium smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. According to early reports, the upcoming device may feature a 5G modem and a new Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Elite processor, offering faster internet speeds and improved performance compared to the current Galaxy Watch Ultra.
Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 5G Support
After two years, the company is expected to launch the next-generation Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, and with it, many things are going to change. According to rumors, Samsung will bring faster 5G connectivity to provide much faster internet speed with a 5G modem, and the Ultra 2 will be the first smartwatch to adopt it. Many countries are now launching 5G services, so it will be a good move for the company to introduce the next technology in its upcoming smartwatch.

Runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Elite SoC
To upgrade the next watch with 5G, Samsung is also preparing to power it with a new Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Elite processor by ditching its Exynos chip. In early specs, the results of the new Qualcomm chip are promising and show better speed, lower battery consumption, and better app optimization, which will provide a seamless experience to users.
More Rivals Adopt 5G Connectivity
Samsung’s Ultra variant is always a main rival to Garmin Fenix watches and the Apple Watch Ultra series. In the market, the Apple Watch Ultra 3 supports 5G connectivity, and now Samsung is introducing it as well. Unfortunately, the Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch 9 Classic variants will not get the 5G upgrade; both will come with the same 4G LTE connection.
Benefits of 5G on Galaxy Watch Ultra 2
The Samsung Watch Ultra only comes with a 4G LTE variant and not with a Wi-Fi-only model, and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 might follow the same approach. Users who like to surf the internet on their smartwatch will benefit from it. Also, with a faster 5G connection, streaming services like Spotify, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music will stream content without interruptions. Further, app downloading will become much easier with the next generation of internet connectivity.
Official Release Date?
Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 at the next Galaxy Unpacked event, which will be held in the second half of this year. At the same event, the company will unveil the Galaxy Watch 9 and Watch 9 Classic. Also, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8, and the rumored Wide Fold, along with One UI 9 software, will share the same stage.
