While there are rumors about the Galaxy S27 Ultra being introduced with an Exynos chipset, a new rumor suggests that Samsung may launch the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 with the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Elite processor. This indicates Samsung’s next strategy for its premium devices. According to information from a tipster on Twitter/X, Samsung could launch the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 with a Qualcomm chip specially built for smartwatches.
New Snapdragon Wear Elite Chip for Galaxy Watch Ultra 2
At a recent event, Qualcomm introduced its new Snapdragon Wear Elite SoC for wearables, which could be used in Samsung’s next smartwatch. Until now, the company has used its in-house Exynos processors for all its Galaxy Watches, including the regular and Classic variants.

It could Improve Speed and Accuracy
The shift to a new chipset could bring improved performance that Samsung wants to deliver with its next Ultra variant. The predecessor, Galaxy Watch Ultra, has been in the market for almost two years, but it has not gained the same popularity as the Apple Watch Ultra, Garmin Fenix series, and Coros Vertix series.
Focus on Fitness-centric and Runners
There is no doubt that the Galaxy Watch Ultra is an advanced smartwatch, but fitness-focused users and athletes often prefer those other brands. With the newly designed Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, the South Korean giant may also aim to improve its ecosystem.
Exynos Chip for Galaxy Watch 9 Series
The remaining Galaxy Watch 9, Galaxy Watch 9 Classic, or Galaxy Watch 9 Pro could continue using the Exynos W1100 processor, meaning there might not be any change for those models. It is the Ultra variant that may run on a new processor.
Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 Expected Features
The next Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is expected to bring improved battery life, a rugged body with an advanced level of protection, enhanced fitness tracking and exercises, and better performance compared to its predecessor.
Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 Launch Date
Samsung is expected to launch these Galaxy Watches at the next Galaxy Unpacked event in July, along with the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Wide Fold, and Galaxy Z Flip 8 devices.
