It is now almost confirmed that Samsung will launch three new foldables in the second half of this year. It will launch Galaxy Z Fold 8, Flip 8 & Wide Fold devices in the next Unpacked event. According to the latest reports from South Korea, the company is planning to unveil three foldable devices on July 22, 2026, in London, UK. If this timeline holds, it will mark Samsung’s first major Unpacked event in London.
The choice of location appears strategic rather than symbolic. Europe has become an increasingly competitive premium smartphone market, with Apple steadily closing the gap. Samsung still leads with around 35 percent market share, but Apple is now close behind at roughly 27 percent, making the region a critical battleground.
New Galaxy Wide Fold
The highlight of the event is expected to be the introduction of the Wide Fold, which could signal a shift in Samsung’s foldable design. Reports suggest the company is moving toward a 4:3 aspect ratio, moving away from the tall and narrow form factor seen in previous Fold devices.
This change would bring a more tablet-like experience and aligns closely with what is rumored for Apple’s first foldable iPhone. Also, it will be a perfect display for the users who watch videos and online content on their phones.
Samsung is also said to be focusing heavily on hardware refinement. The upcoming foldables are expected to be thinner, with the new model potentially coming in around 0.5mm slimmer than the Apple Fold device. The current Galaxy Z Fold 7 & Flip 7 are already slimmer, and Samsung wants to move further.
S Pen could return to Galaxy Z Fold 8

Another notable development is the possible return of S Pen support. Samsung removed stylus compatibility from the Galaxy Z Fold 7 due to design constraints related to thickness and weight. Now, with improved engineering, the company may bring back S Pen functionality, likely on the Wide Fold.
Samsung also wants to make such a change with the rumored Galaxy S27 Pro & 27 Ultra, where only one device will get S Pen support, and the other will target other users who don’t want S Pen in daily use.
Overall, this Unpacked event could mark a turning point in the foldable smartphone market. With a new Wide Fold, new design direction, thinner builds, and the return of key features like S Pen, Samsung appears ready to define the next phase of foldable innovation rather than follow it.
In the same event, Samsung may also introduce Galaxy Watch 9, Watch 9 Pro, Watch Ultra 2, and One UI 9 software. If the July 22 launch goes as planned, it may set the tone for the entire industry heading into 2027.
