Samsung Confirms Horizontal Lock Feature for Galaxy S25 Ultra

Galaxy S25 Ultra Horizontal Lock Feature

Samsung will bring two new camera features from the Galaxy S26 series to the Galaxy S25 Ultra in a future firmware update. The new software update will bring the Horizontal Lock and Galaxy Ai-powered Document Scan camera features to the S25 lineup.

The official Camera person at Samsung Community South Korea has confirmed this and said the company is preparing new features for a wide range of devices, including the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Previously, it was confirmed that new camera features would be added to older models; now, Samsung is more specific about which features will be added. Last week, it confirmed plans to bring the Virtual Aperture & Convert Motion Photos camera feature to the Galaxy S25 series. Additionally, two more confirmed features will enhance camera performance on older devices.

It is now one of the most discussed features, alongside Privacy Display. When enabled during a video recording session, it keeps the horizon level. Even in difficult situations, if your phone moves or is unstable, it will not affect video recording. It provides extra stability to the camera and delivers stable video footage.

Document Scan Camera Feature

The Document Scan feature will allow users to read and translate text into their native language to help them understand it. It will automatically give you an option when you start the camera and focus on an image. If the image contains text, such as a menu card or a signboard, it will translate it in real time.

With the launch of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Samsung has introduced numerous new features in its camera ecosystem. The official camera moderator in a previous post already mentioned a handful of camera features, and additional features will come to older supported models.

Supported Galaxy Devices

In the Samsung Community post, the user asked about the Galaxy S25 Ultra, so the obvious answer was for that Galaxy device. The camera moderator further mentioned a wide range of Galaxy devices, which means it could also come to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Fold 7, Flip 6, and Flip 7 smartphones.

Samsung will release an official announcement about it in a separate post on its website. The new camera features for the Galaxy S25 series are expected to launch with the next One UI 8.5 stable version.
