For the last few weeks, Galaxy S25 users on T-Mobile in the US have been dealing with a frustrating battery drain problem. After the April 2026 update, many Galaxy S25 users on T-Mobile began reporting unusually fast battery drain, even while idle, and sometimes struggled to last past 5–6 hours, even with light use like texting, browsing, and watching videos. Now, Samsung has finally provided a fix with a simple solution.
Galaxy S25 Battery Drain Issue
Users reported excessive battery drain even when the phone was idle. Some long-time Galaxy users said it was the worst battery performance they had seen on a Samsung flagship. The issue kept coming up repeatedly, with different users pointing fingers at different culprits, from Instagram to the Google Play Store to OS updates.

Samsung Finally Responds With a Solution
For T-Mobile users specifically, Samsung has now identified the real culprit: the Mobile Services app. A buggy version of this system app was silently running in the background and draining the battery. Samsung moderators on the Samsung US Members forum confirmed an issue and provided a workaround.
Here’s how to fix it:
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps
- Tap the filter and sort icon at the top right
- Enable Show System Apps
- Search for Mobile Services
- Tap the three dots at the top right of the Mobile Services page
- Select Uninstall Updates
- Tap OK to confirm
- After uninstalling, verify that the app has been downgraded to an older version
That’s it. After doing this, Samsung says the workaround should restore normal battery performance. This is a temporary workaround while Samsung prepares a proper patch. The fix is expected to arrive through a software update, with the One UI 8.5 rollout for US users beginning around May 11.
If the battery drain continues even after following the steps above, open the Samsung Members app, go to S25 Feedback, and submit an Error Report. Samsung moderators have not mentioned other devices yet, but Galaxy S24 and other Galaxy users have also raised complaints about battery drain issues. Samsung is expected to release a permanent fix through an upcoming software update.
