Samsung Rolls Out May 2026 Security Update for Galaxy A54, A55, and A56

Samsung has started rolling out the May 2026 security update to the Galaxy A54, Galaxy A55, and Galaxy A56. The update is already live in India and will expand to more countries over the next few days. You can manually install it by going to Settings > Software update > Download and install.

The Galaxy A54 gets firmware version A546EXXSJEZE5 in Europe, and the update size is 287MB. The Galaxy A55 update, as seen in the screenshot below, released in India & Europe, comes in at 289.19MB and bumps the firmware version to A556EXXSECZDE. Last year’s Galaxy A56 has received firmware version A566EXXSEDZDE in Europe, which is nearly 300 MB in size. The security patch level is dated May 5, 2026, and the phone is running One UI 8.0 based on Android 16.

Mid-Range Phones Beat Flagships

While Samsung’s own Galaxy S25, S24, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and other flagship devices are still waiting for the May patch, the Galaxy A54, A55, and A56 have already received it. This is not a one-time thing either. Samsung has placed these three phones on its monthly security update schedule, meaning they consistently receive patches on time, just like the flagships.

What’s Fixed in the May 2026 Patch?

The May 2026 security patch contains a total of 39 fixes. That includes 29 fixes from Google’s Android Security Bulletin and 10 Samsung-specific fixes for One UI.

On the Google side, the patch addresses 2 critical and 27 high-severity vulnerabilities in the core Android OS.

As for Samsung’s 10 fixes, some of the notable issues resolved include improper input validation in Galaxy Watch that could allow arbitrary code execution, incorrect default permissions that exposed device identifiers in FactoryCamera, and a flaw in LocationManager that could let attackers access sensitive user location data.

When Will Galaxy A54, A55, and A56 Get One UI 8.5?

The stable One UI 8.5 rollout began in South Korea on May 6, followed by a wider global rollout starting May 11. However, that first wave only covered the flagship lineup.

For the A-series, including the Galaxy A56, A55, and A54, the One UI 8.5 rollout is expected sometime in June 2026. In the meantime, install the May 2026 patch now. It provides a meaningful security boost and takes less than 10 minutes to install.
