After releasing the stable One UI 8.5 update for most flagship devices, Samsung is now moving ahead with the next One UI 9 software. Samsung has officially announced the One UI 9 beta program, starting with the Galaxy S26 series this week. The One UI 9 firmware, based on Android 17, will bring new features such as expanded creative tools, customization options, a more accessible mobile experience, and stronger protection.
The stable version of One UI 9 may debut with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold and Flip devices later this year, featuring advanced AI capabilities. Samsung has not yet detailed these AI features, but they are expected to launch with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 at the July 2026 Unpacked event.
What’s New in One UI 9 Beta

In the new version, Samsung Notes will get useful new tools in this update, including decorative tapes and a wider variety of pen line styles. These are small additions, but they will be useful for users who rely on the app for daily note-taking. The Contacts app now offers direct access to Creative Studio for creating personalized profile cards without switching between apps.
The Quick Panel has been redesigned, with brightness, sound, and media player controls now independently adjustable and offering more size options to suit individual preferences. This gives users greater control over how the panel looks and functions.
On the accessibility side, One UI 9 also introduces overall improvements in the code. Mouse Key speed is now adjustable for smoother cursor control, and a combined TalkBack package brings together features previously offered separately by Google and Samsung. A new Text Spotlight feature displays selected text more clearly in a floating window, making reading easier.
Security also receives attention in this beta update. When new high-risk apps are detected, One UI 9 warns users, blocks execution and installation, and recommends deletion through updated security policies.
Eligible Devices and Countries
Right now, the One UI 9 beta is exclusive to the Galaxy S26 series. The beta program is available in Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the UK, and the US starting this week. It is not announced when other devices will join the beta program. It is expected that Samsung will expand the beta program to the Galaxy S25, S24, Fold 7, Flip 7, Flip 6, Galaxy A57, A37, and trifold devices in the coming weeks.
How to Join the Beta
If you own a Galaxy S26, S26+, or S26 Ultra and live in one of the listed countries, open the Samsung Members app on your device, look for the One UI 9 beta banner, and apply to join the program. Once accepted, go to Settings, tap Software update, and download the beta firmware.
